Model For A Farm Breeding Plan For Boer Goats
Oct – Nov: Group A kids: Bring in for checking
Feb – march: Group B kids: Bring in for checking
- Weigh kids and record weights. This will give you a good idea of which Does produce the fastest growing kids.
- ag each group of kids about 3 weeks of age. Record animals’ details on your data base.
- Vaccinate all goats at the same time to ensure every animal is covered. It is preferable to vaccinate just prior to putting the Does to the Bucks to give maximum protection to the kids.
- When animals are brought in, check feet, drench, lightly clip any horns of your Stud animals
- Use any external drenches as you require. Remember to observe any withholding period before you slaughter any animals
- When possible, allow a ‘free’ month as a catch-up and to attend to all necessary farm/herd management tasks.
Note: the allocation of tasks to the months on the year months can be changed according to personal circumstances.
